Muscle care for people who train regularly

Running, cycling, the gym, beach volleyball, jiu-jitsu — each sport leaves a different tension in the body. Sports massage helps ease that muscular tension and reduce the discomfort that stays behind after the effort.

A calf that tightens, a knee that nags, a locked hip

People who train regularly usually feel it in the same place every time: the calf that tightens after a few kilometres, the outside of the knee that nags on a run, the hip that locks from sitting for hours before training. Pain that keeps returning to one spot rarely resolves in a single session; it asks for follow-up.

For that kind of complaint I usually combine sports massage with a myofascial release, which works one area in depth and includes a relaxing part. If the pain is recent, strong, or came from an injury, that is for a doctor or a physiotherapist to assess first. I work on the muscle; I do not replace that examination.

You train at 6.45. I come in the evening.

In Rio there are people who run along the Aterro before seven in the morning, cycle at the weekend or train jiu-jitsu after work. Going to a fixed studio after that means getting dressed again, sitting in traffic and arriving home more tired than before. I bring the table, the oils and the towels to you. The session happens at your time, and I work 9am to 8pm — enough for anyone who is only free after an evening session.

Prevention is part of how I see this work: looking after the muscle before the pain shows up, not only once it has already locked. That is why sports massage tends to work better booked regularly, as part of the training routine.

What it usually goes with

Therapeutic stretching and sports massage last 30 minutes and come as an add-on inside another session. On its own the trip does not pay for itself, so it is booked inside another massage. The most common pairing is with a myofascial release.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What people who train usually ask

I train early in the morning. Can I book the massage for the evening?

You can. I work 9am to 8pm, so it fits after work or after an evening session. Tell me the time that suits you and I confirm whether it is free.

Does sports massage fix recurring knee or calf pain?

It helps ease the muscular tension around it, but pain that keeps returning to the same place usually needs more than one session. If it is recent, strong, or followed an injury, see a doctor or a physiotherapist first. I work on the muscle; I do not replace that examination.

Do I need to do anything before the session?

No. Nothing to buy and nothing to prepare. What I bring and what stays on your side is set out in the article on how the visit works.

What does sports massage cost?

It comes as a 30 minute add-on inside another massage, so the price is that of the session you choose. Tell me what is bothering you and I put the combination together with you.

Tell me the address and the day. I bring the rest.

Same-day reply. No sign-up, no app.
